Stranding Out The Cash Web

Today I made several small revisions at the bottom of my article stack, to see if I could clean up on tiny accumulated errors in the text and structure of the site and the eventual book.

There is a lot more to this project than just finding affiliate programs...actually the affiliate programs are just a stepping-stone to finding effective contacts. When I started this project, I had no particular intention to build a portal site.

The term "Spam Blog" is a new one to me...it refers to the practice of opening several dozen or several hundred blog accounts in order to self-promote links. Blogging has definitely evolved...when I joined the revolution a few months ago, it seemed that very few people were concerned about commercialization. Now there is hot debate about the boundaries of what constitutes "successful" personal speach (which some say we are "losing") and successful commercial speach (which is often decried as "evil.")

Another Ping From Bryan

Bryan Mize called me again today...his attitude has markedly changed since the opening of the project. This time he wanted to consider bankrolling ME in a new program for a cut of the back end profits!

Meanwhile, he is finally getting serious about developing new legs in his own business downline. Armed with the Kim Klaver process, he is rejection-proofing his business and actually making more calls.

This is also my first example of using Other People's Money to close a deal. Of course Bryan gets another plug for his downline business organization...he got that just by making the phone call.

What the call said was, "I found something I don't have the time or the patience to mess with, but I thought it might be right up your alley?"

Enter A.D. Kessler and his insights on win-win negotiation.
Bryan needed someone with "time and patience" to follow this specialized book...I didn't have the cash positioning to take advantage of the offer on my own.

My win-win solution: Borrow the money for the book from Bryan at a potential 100% Return On Investment. Cut a new deal to resolve THREE of my business debt problems at the same time, AND create a new income stream for both parties.

Trading Clicks: Secrets of The PTP World

Getting PAID to promote your sites is actually MUCH easier than I thought. The trick of the trade is to be willing to accept lots and lots of small payments instead of expecting one big payment from a particular script or a particular webmaster.

The scripts don't care who you are...many of them might be run by the same webmaster or the same company. If so, joining several programs of the same type or by the same webmaster can HELP your income (and theirs) UNLESS you want to cheat people.

Web-cheaters are actually just a very small fraction of the public...but they can ruin the experience for a lot of webmasters. If you are one of them, you can also expect your bad reputation to travel faster than light, particularly among the larger companies such as Yahoo and our friends at Google.

By now, my business has many tiny little income streams, reckoned many different ways.
In fact, I am well on my way to becoming a "cookie monster!"

Blogging provides a perfect freestyle space to design a cyber-empire. I came back online and was able to access positions developed months ago, with no problem at all. So now I am experimenting with building a downline for my first program.

Why am I documenting all of this for free?
Well, I happen to think that building my business slowly will give me the experience I need to build stability. The challenge is in making sure that the choices I make today, do not produce a strong competitive conflict with other providers I have chosen in the past.

This is one of the basic lessons I learned from the real estate guru, A.D. Kessler.
I want to be sure that every deal I close, with every provider, presents the best possible chance of being a win-win situation.

Why do I join so many programs? Isn't that producing overkill?
No. Eventually I may get to a point where I lose some commission money from program XYZ because I haven't been active there within the last 30 days or so...but by then the leverage I am using will have changed to compensate for the loss.

This is a win-win for the providers who deal with me because I don't have to waste time confronting them about the loss of a small commission...but each position *I* take puts THEM in a better position to know about OTHER providers, products, services, and so forth...at least SOME of which have a strong chance of doing a more effective job for their individual sites than what they have now.

What I am discovering is that usually, individual programs or lists wish to trade CASH for CONTACTS. This puts me at an advantage, because I am still trading TIME for rights to proprietary information.

The strongest example of my growth as a webmaster was when I told my brother Karl this morning, that I had done upgrades and maintainance on some 20 or more websites in the course of a single workday.

Even more startling...I am actually being PAID to say NO!

Like this: some of my programs are auto-surf or manual surf exchanges, and I get paid a fraction of a cent for every time anyone's business intersects with my computer by being part of one of my registered exchanges...all because viewing their ad consititutes actual work I can be paid for!

I don't mind clicking for pennies.
Why?

Let's do the math together.
My original proposition was to find 1001 different ways to make money.
If I wanted to hype, I could grant exclusive "buddy deals" to some of my favorite contacts, and make myself an "instant internet guru."

But my minimum threshold for being "in profit" is a lot different...
Only $1.00 per month, per stream.

And...I am doing all my marketing in reverse.
I am offering to MAKE profits for at least 1001 of the providers that are already out there.
It's not just about Pay-to-Read scripts or link-trading programs. Eventually I will have 1001 links coordinated well enough to work together, legally, fairly, and ethically. That's the content of the book...which is the "one" idea I started out with.

Meanwhile, I haven't asked anyone to change their programs one bit, in my favor or otherwise.

Back In Business

By the time I re-visit this link, I will have "crawled" my entire previous linking stack.
